Pattaya has probably the biggest and varied events calendar in the whole of Thailand, possibly with the exception of Bangkok. Pattaya has a multi-cultural appeal as many foreigners take advantage of the superb accommodation available such as the great condominiums offered by The Global Top Group. It is one of the greatest attractions of the bustling seaside resort that draws visitors from far and wide to the city. Music festivals, theatre performances, sporting events, cabaret shows, food exhibitions and a plethora of other assorted attractions that you could possibly think of, all happen in Pattaya City. For those that live in Pattaya they can enjoy these events on a weekly basis, but for the purpose of this blog we highlight some of the upcoming events for the tourist and visitor.
May 4th – 7th The Top of the Gulf Regatta is one of the biggest sailing events in Asia, and 2017 marks the Regatta’s 13th birthday. The biggest feature of Top of the Gulf is the unique array of boat classes drawn to the Ocean Marina Yacht Club. The four exciting days of racing brings a unique atmosphere to the city, and all eyes will be on the multi-class event as it unfolds. There are keelboats, ocean multihulls, one-design Platus, beach catamarans, dinghies and Optimists. Pattaya is superb for sailing as the wind is generally consistent and the waves very rarely too rough, so rarely is the event troubled by adverse weather.
May 19th – 20th Warp Music Festival is Thailand’s first ever Beach EDM festival, the 2017 festival is the third edition, and promises to be bigger and better than the previous two. The festival is held at the prestigious Saiswan Beach Resort, on Jomtien Beach. Although the line up has not been released yet, previous festivals have featured top international DJ’s and live artists such as: Marshmellow, Vaentino Khan, Lookas, Matisse & Sadko, and Morgan Page.
July 16th This international event attracts runners from all over the world as well as hundreds of local athletes. Held every year in July, the Pattaya Marathon features a full marathon, a half-marathon, a quarter-marathon and a wheelchair marathon. The event usually starts on Beach Road and proceedings start at around 5am to beat the summer heat. Traffic is closed off on the route and many spectators gather around the course to cheer on the runners. The course starts at Central Festival Beach Road then goes along to Bali Hai, runners then navigate the hill on Thappraya road towards Jomtien. Then the route takes Jomtien Second road and along Sukhumvit towards Thapthim Thong Village where runners turn and head back to the start. The Pattaya Marathon brings a unique atmosphere to the whole city, and the whole community, young and old is engaged by the race.
