The Best Golf Courses In Pattaya

Believe it or not, some people decide where they are going to live by the standard of the golf courses in the locality. Golf mad sportsmen and women dream about life on the course, and when retirement comes around choosing a warmer climate and the amenities they love are natural reasons for leaving their homelands. It has been estimated that 500,000 expatriates are now living in Thailand, and a high proportion are retirees with good pensions and large budgets for buying new homes. It is a market many real estate developers, entertainment venues, restaurants, hospitals, farang orientated businesses and of course golf courses all try to tap into. Pattaya is a popular destination for those expats that love the beach atmosphere and all the amenities available in the entertainment city. Many golf courses have sprung up to service this increase of demand and with golf also increasing in popularity amongst Thai people, then spending time on the links has never been more popular. There are some top courses situated in Pattaya and on the Eastern Seaboard, and here we have selected one or two of the best.

Siam Country Club

Siam Country Club is one of the most established golf venues in Pattaya, and in fact it was the first privately owned course in Thailand. It has three courses: The Old Course, Plantation and Waterside. The Old Course opened in 1971, and has hosted the Thailand Open 4 times together with many Asian Golf Circuits, it was renovated in 2006 and subsequently has been the home of the LPGA in Thailand ever since. Seashore Paspalum was chosen for the fairway grass, and Novotek for the greens. Despite a new look after the renovation, the Old Course remains a classic traditional tree line with many fond memories of the past. Classic beauty and challenge are what the Old Course is all about.

Laem Chabang International Country Club

One of the premier golf venues on the whole Eastern Seaboard, Laem Chabang golf course was designed by Jack Nicklaus and has twenty seven holes. The club permanently rotates 9 holes for upkeep and attention. That means that the course is in constant top condition, and you never really play the same 18 holes twice. The course is split into three sections; Mountain, Valley & Lake, the different terrain is specially designed to test particular skills and ability. The Clubhouse is magnificent with restaurant, bar and a luxury hotel for guests. As well as the normal golf club facilities, there is also an outdoor swimming pool and an extensive pro shop.

Burapha Golf Club & Resort

Located in Sriracha, Burapha Golf Club has two courses, the East and West. The two 18-hole championship golf courses were designed by highly respected architect Gary Pranks in collaboration with touring professional David Graham. Burapha has hosted many top tournaments including; The Thailand Open, Singha Pattaya Open, Mercedes Benz junior championship, the Asian Masters final and the US Golf Camp. The resort offers a blend of Asian and European styles, a superb club house, restaurant, hotel and swimming pool. If you are looking for top golf, with amenities and facilities to put many US and European clubs to shame, then Pattaya and the Eastern Seaboard is definitely a serious option.
